It's hardly the season for it, but Frida and I talked ToyStory and it eventually brought us to "that Chrismtmas-movie with the toys" which we saw as kids. Since we didn't remember the name - or that is was Jim Hensons work - I thought it would be tricky to find it, but appearently just needed to google "toys christmas mouse died" lol!
