Best christmas-movies of all time!

Die Hard

Or.. Well, they're my favourites at least ;)

Home Alone
Little Kevin is home alone this time of the years and makes the absolute best of it. Will the family get back in time for Xmas? Yes of course, and it's soo sappy but the scene with his mom makes me all mushy and warm anyway :)

Gremlins
Nothing brings the chrismas-spirit like mean green little devils! This movie is also a messed up and effective reminder that Chrismas isn't a happy time for everyone. Ask Kate, she'll tell you that nifty little childhood-story about her dad. O_o

Die Hard 2
Yeah, the first better one also takes place around the holidays, but that one makes me think about a dark big halfempty building with terrorists and glass, not automatically Chrismas, or even winter. The second one however takes part outside on a stormy airport, has snowmobiles and shit, and naggy people at the airport who wants to get home in time for the holidays. That's why only DH2 is on this list.
..Fuck it though, I'll watch both tonight :)

Missing Nightmare Before Christmas? Not an X-mas movie for me, but it would top my Hallowen-movie list! ;)

Merry Christmas!

Noel is simply adorable <3

Noel & Russell

It's been a long time since the third and last season of The Mighty Boosh, but seeing a new interview with Julian and Noel about their USA-tour I suddenly realised how much I missed the guys. Since then I've been in a fullblown Boosh-obsessive state and that's such a fun place to be!

But this isn't going to be about Mighty Boosh.. :)

Thing is, looking through my old map of Boosh-pics I remembered a duo which had escaped my mind for a long time; Noel and Russell Brand a.k.a The Goth Detectives! I'm not much of a Russel Brand-fan, but when these two guys appeared together in "The Big Fat Quiz of the Year" in 2006 I just melted from all the fuzzy gooy-ness it made me build up in my stomach. So fuckin adorable together!!

Parting is such sweet sorrow

Eric & Godric

Our tall swede Alexander Skarsgård is taking over Hollywood. The guy is suddenly HUGE (On ONTD they love ASkar so much they post three year old articles about him, lol. And all the airport-photos! So funny:) and the reason is - of course - his awsomeness and looks role as Eric in True Blood.

Since I'm from Sweden and blonde goodlookin' guys like him grow on trees here (...;) I've never had any interest in him "that way", and in the first season Eric was never so interesting to me (beyond the "yay-it's skarsgård!" angle). Just a vamp interested in Sookie, who's the dullest fuckin' person on that show (next to Beeel). So I didn't really "get it". (Lafayette FTW!)

Well, after the last couple of episodes of season 2 I kinda do.

Boondock Saints II

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is completed and the premiere is expected this November (if we're lucky) I have no idea what to feel about it.

I can't help to be a bit excited to see Connor and Murphy McManus again. And the cast is nice - I've always liked Clifton Collins Jr and Julie Benz - even though there is a huge lack of Willem Dafoe :(

And damn, the poster is fucking fantastic.

But! I don't really see a point in making a sequel. Why risk it? There are too many ways to fuck it up, and I'm sorry to say it but I strongly doubt it will be even nearly as good as the first one. I kinda expect it to suck.

Not that I have anything to base this on. Not even a trailer yet. I've been following writer and director Troy Duffy's video blog on YouTube, which is pretty funny and interesting, but doesn't give away much. (Love the clips with Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery, hehe. But what the fuck us up with SPF's face? I'm not okay with Connor McManus with a facelift.)

Hey, I'll be happy if it turns out I'm completely off and the movie rocks but well see..

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

The trailer for Terry Gilliam's new film. It is best known for being Heath Ledger's last movie, or course. I think it looks fantastic, but Terry's stuff always do.

Can't wait to see Tom Waits in it! And all those other guys ;)
Release dates October 16 (UK) and December 25 (US).

Cast of Otto - Out - November 2008

The cast of this movie (Otto; or, Up with Dead People) is ridiciously fabulous, especially Katharina Klewinghaus and Marcel Schlutt (Gefangen/Locked Up anyone? Didn't think so. lol). And if only I can get my hands on some ironing paper soon I'll have one of Chemin's awsome Otto-paintings on my backpack :)

Children of Earth

(Whats remaining of) the team

I love Torchwood. I' always did, despite the campyness and sometimes silly storylines and I was all giddy and happy that it was back. But "Children of Earth" - the five-night mini-series event - took me by surprise. It wasn't just good. It was a whole other level and it was bloody spectacular!

The plot concerns an alien visitor coming to earth and takes control of the children. Sounds like a typical science fiction story, but it is really more about the people who are running our countries. It is a moral story, and a really dark and depressing one. I loved it, and I don't think you have have seen the show before to enjoy it. So catch it if you have a chanse!

Gabe Nevins - i-D - October 2008

In my searsh for Gabe-pics (for inspiration for something I'm working on) I found photographer Nick Haymes site. He had a bunch of awsome photos of Gabe, but the quality was crappy so I "had" to eBay-search the magazine they featured in and buy it (This whole thing required some detective-work and took days..) Well, I got the magazine from Ireland today!

In TV-land summers suck ass

The final Breaking Bad episode for the season is tomorrow and just the thought of that makes my stomach hurt (Appearently it's gonna end with a major cliffhanger, which doesn't make me feel any better.. They won't even start to shoot the third season until august.). That show has been fucking fantastic all the way through and I don't want it to end! Especially since all my other favourite shows - like Supernatural and House - has already ended for this season. Ugh!

There is the new season of Weeds coming up though (June 8), so I'll have those awsome 26 minutes every week..

And there is some bright light in the end of a long boring tunnel. No official airdates yet, but Entourage and Torchwood - Children of Earth is set for "summer", whatever that means.

V preview (2010)

I loved the 80's miniseries, but I'm strangely ambivalent to the remake (I'm usually hateful against everything that is remade.) I'll probably watch it... But with that said I think it will be cancelled pretty quickly. They'll pump all they got into the pilot.

Whats with all the church crap? Faith's gonna save mankind? If that's the case I'm out..

Zombie Love

Otto

I finally got a chance to see “Otto, or Up with Dead People” last night. I’m not into zombie-flicks at all, but when its done by Bruce LaBruce you know it’s gonna be pretty darn special.

The movie is about the vulnerable young zombie Otto, who has no idea where he came from or where he is going. He’s discovered by underground filmmaker Medea Yarn, who begins to make a documentary about him and convinces one of her filmstars, Fritz Fritze, to allow Otto to stay in his guest bedroom. Soon Otto starts to remember a few details of his past - before he was dead - including memories of his ex-boyfriend. (trailer)

The movie reminds me about Gregg Araki’s earlier movies in the way it is filmed, characters, the music that is being used and (of course) the gay themes (Even if LaBruce is way more explicit, to say the least!). As a huge Araki-fan i think this is a good thing, hehe. Another resemblance is the fact that the acting is so-so, but does that matter? Not at all. Not to me at least, that is not the point. I’d rather see something different, something I’ve never seen, before some Hollywood acting piece.

And I’ve never seen anything like Otto, this humourous and rather touching gay-porno-ish zombie-flick. Not the best movie out there, and it’s not for everyone (!! lol) but some of the scenes defenitly did it for me. (Guess why;)

W.T.W.T.A. Posters

I’ve never read Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are. It wasn’t a part of my childhood, but I really love the pictures from the book so when I heard about Spike Jonze’s filmatisation I started following the project. And ever since I saw the first stills I was pretty much sold. The whole thing is fucking beautiful, especially the little boy in the costume with the crown. I love it. (Trailer)

Andy Hallett 1975-2009

Heard this morning that Andy had passed away. It’s not like I’ve kept track of him after Angel, but still makes me sad (I mean, it’s Lorne!). Especially since it was so unexpekted. Heart failure? The guy was only 33 years old!

He died in the hospital last night, with his father by his side.
Rest in piece, bb ♥

Breaking Bad. Watch it.

Breaking Bad

There are many shows on that I love, adore, and feel I absolutely don’t want to have to live without. But even if I think people in general should know about them and watch them I pretty much keep them to myself and only suggest others to watch them if I think a show fits a persons taste especially well.

Breaking Bad is an exception.

I don’t know why, but I have a need to tell the whole world about this show. I don’t just want you to watch it, I need you to frickin’ know about, love it as much as I do and watch it! Because it’s the best show in the world? Might not be (It’s still very young), but it’s very fucking good, and if it eventually get cancelled just because enough people don’t knows about it or something stupid like that I would be fucking heartbroken (Gutted!).

The first season was cut really short cuz of the writers strike and I really believed it was screwed (Risktakers aren’t many in the land of tv networks, and I hadn’t even heard of AMC) but the show got its second season, which started a few weeks ago. So, it’s going well, the buzz is on and it might not need my support, still I want YOU to watch it.

Plot: Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston – who is painfully good!), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

Might not sound hilarious. And no, it’s not, hehe. “Bleak, heartbreaking, shocking and bitterly funny,” according to the critics. But trust me, Breaking Bad is great and you should all give it a big fat chance.

Seriously.
Watch it!

Hell Yeah, Fuck Yeah

Big boy Hardy

Sometimes there are those news in the universe of movie-making that makes someone like me go a bit crazy with excitement. Most of the time it’s favourite actors you never expected working together being in the same movie, or actor/director, actor/role, loved adaptations made by people you trust (and for me personally I go a bit happy-bonkers when a fave of mine plays gay. Because that’s my thing ;) etc. And sometimes things like these are so frickin’ good you almost can’t believe they are true. (When my biggest celebrity crush ever stared in the biggest movie in history and became a frickin’ household name was not one of those “things”.. )

My current crush and obsession is (still) the very talented Tom Hardy. Things are going really great for him right now, since Bronson premiered. The movie itself have gotten reviews describing it as everything from “okay” to “brilliant cult classic” (It’s not a movie for everyone. Not exactly mainstream, lol) but all the critics have one opinion in common; Tom is fantastic and can’t be denied.

That’s not the “I can’t believe its true” bit (I didn’t expect anything else of him..;) That moment came when I read about his next movie Warrior. (No, it’s not a gay role. He already did one of those in Rockn’rolla so I’m satisfied on that point, hehe.) But the guy will be playing a gawd damn MMA fighter..

Famous faces in music videos

Christopher Walken in Fatboy Slim's “Weapon of Choice”, Chevy Chase in Paul Simon’s “You can call me Al”, Keanu's Dean-impression in Paula Abdul's "Rush Rush", Robert Downey Jr in Elton John’s “I Want Love”. The list of actors featured in music videos are many (and more or less good. Should I mention Adrian Grenier in Britney’s “You Drive Me Crazy”? lol!) Here are some of my favourite appearances..

Oscar

81th Academy Awards

I have been really bad at following this years awards, but I couldn't exactly skip the oscars, could I.. (Haven't in 11 years.) I don't think I've ever been less interested though. I haven't even bothered to watch most of the "big ones" becuase they haven't captured my interest at all, even if I like people behind them. And Hugh Jackman? Ugh.. why..?

The Dark Knight Poster by Olly Moss Indiana jones and the Last Crusade by Olly Moss

Even if you don’t know who Olly Moss is you might have seen his popular work on the web or on people walking around with it (lookie lookie). Olly’s pretty much a Banksy of t-shirt designs. In other words: He’s awesome.

So, where am I going with this? Well, Olly have created a series of reinterpreted movie posters, and they are frickin’ brilliant.
