Familiar face on Law & Order

I know, things have been dead around here. And I’m not even gonna blame work this time, I’ve just been lazy. I actually started a post the day after I’d seen Milk, but before I was able to finish writing I started to puke and was stuck in bed for a week. I really liked the movie and I’ve seen it twice now so I’ll try to get around posting something about it. But this post is about something completely different..

Almost fell off my chair a couple of weeks back while watching Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and a very familiar face popped up on the screen. The one and only Ryan Dunn! (..from Jackass, Viva La Bam, etc!) He was only on for about a minute, but it was a great minute. Not to mention strange..

Seeing Ryan Dunn on a show like this is like watching somebody you know on TV, with all the weirdness and familiarity that comes with it. I’m not saying I feel like I know him, lol, but after all these years I’m so used to seeing him as himself and always around that very familiar crew, so to suddenly see him act opposite Chris Keller Christopher Meloni and Mariska was super weird.

I think he was really good though. It’s his first serious acting job (as far as I can remember..?) and he does a better job then many of the “serious” actors that shows up for those roles. Good for him!

End of the Line

Suddenly – without any warning from the official site or anything – What We Do is Secret had a dvd release date, and three weeks after hearing about it I had the film in my hand. Felt fucking weird. I mean, I’ve been waiting for this one for years. But, to say the least I was wery excited! Tried to give myself a moment to wrap my head around it before rushing up to the dvd player and those were a long couple of fucking minutes!

So, what’s my verdict? Well, since it’s only been an hour since I saw it I need to melt it down a bit before I have any idea what my final judgement is, but it was not far from what I’d expected. Some things better and others less good. I had hoped for more grittyness, but was happily surprised with some decisions they’d made. The cast did a really great job, especially Rick Gonzalez and Shane West. Bijou Phillips definitely deserves more credit in the reviews than she’s got, she was fab. Yeah.. I enjoyed the movie a whole lot.

Now when I’ve seen it I think I’ll miss looking forward to a movie in the same way as this one. And at the same time it’s a fucking relief and I hope I don’t fall in another “upcoming” indieflick-trap anytime soon. Those pits are cruel man..

Danny Dyer - Attitude - June 2006

English actor Danny Dyer is my current obsession (11 weeks and counting, which is a fuckin’ long time for me when it comes to these things!). I won’t go into details about the Dyer-state I’m in because that’s a whole post for itself (which I’m actually working on. Hopefully I’ll have it up sometime in the near future..)

Usually I don’t “waste” money on back issue magazines with my current obsessions because I tend to completely loose interest when the state is over (Many actors and actresses stays with me, of course, but most “obsessions” are often nothing more than fleeting romances). But when I found the infamous Attitude issue featuring Dyer cheap on ebay I couldn’t help myself (It’s a gay magazine, if that explains it;)

Got Milk? (yes, lamest headline ever)

Milk If you’ve heard about Milk - Gus Van Sant’s upcoming film – and you know me at all you must have figured out this is a movie I want to see. Okay, I want to see everything Gus does, but this one especially. The story is interesting (and gay, which of course makes me happy;) and the casting is just bloody fantastic with people like Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, James Franco, Emile Hirsch and Diego Luna.

Plot/history: In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in America. His victory was not just a victory for gay rights; he forged coalitions across the political spectrum. From senior citizens to union workers, Harvey Milk changed the very nature of what it means to be a fighter for human rights and became, before his untimely death in 1978, a hero for all Americans. (watch the trailer)

Jason Mewes - Inked - Sept/Oct 2008

I love tattoos, and I love magazines, but weirdly enough I’m not very fond of tattoo-magazines. (If I want to watch other people’s tatts – which I seldom do – there is internet, ya know?) However, I’ve been looking for a good excuse to buy Inked, a glossy hot-lookin’ tattoo/style/art magazine that costs a small fortune, but looks sooo pretty. (I've always dreamt of designing a magazine. If only I knew what to put in it..)

Well, the other day I got the latest issue. Jason Mews wasn’t my excuse though (And I hardly recognised him at first!) This guy was. Mewes was more of a very happy surprise. (So was a deviantnation-picture by LithiumPicnic – even if it was a pretty lame photo.)

I really want to see Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Kevin Smith's new flick (With Mewes of course, among others).
