CHRISTIAN BALE
40x40 cm

Unlike everyone else who’s asking me to draw and paint something random for them Matilda never has any problems with coming up with what she wants. Her it-boy (/person) for the last couple of months have been Christian Bale and since he’ll never be wrong to have on the wall, no matter if he’s in her focus, she asked me to paint him.

She sent me a bunch of pictures to choose from, but as soon as I saw this one I know it was “the one” (And so did she, apparently, knowing I would like it:) Not that I wanted to admit it at the time, since I was working on something else at the moment.

I didn’t run into any big problems while I was painting (The background isn't very good but I suck at them, I can't help it), but didn’t think it would be finished as quickly as it was. When I started the last “stage” I had no idea it would be the last time I worked on it. Suddenly it was finished. Don’t know how, but it was.

This was the first painting I did for someone other than myself and it was a surprisingly big difference from doing my previous ones. Not because I didn’t choose the subject myself (because I had the luxury to choose and find a picture that spoke to me) I’m sure that may be a bit of a problem in the future, but the difference I’m speaking of is that I never got as attached to this one. I don’t have to “let it go” because I never really had it in the first place, if that makes any sense?

Anyway, it was a nice experience. I hope next one will be just as easy.
